Former AFL star Kurt Warner , will play in his third superbowl!

Before he was in the NFL Europe, he was a Iowa Barnstormer.

Kurt Warner may very well have sealed the deal this Sunday, for a bust in Canton, Ohio. That would make Warner the first and possibly last Arena Football League alumni to make it to the Pro Football hall of fame.

The AFL had become a cult sport, that was all but invisible from the national TV scene. Kurt Warner leading Iowa to a pair of Arena Bowls, not only put the AFL back on the map. (Landing them on TNN in it's last days before the change to "Spike TV")

He also helped the AFL land its first major Video game.(He was with the St. Louis Rams at the time of the games release) "Kurt Warner's Arena Football unleashed" was on Play Station One. The previous two AFL games was a text game (no graphics) for the Comadore 64. And a proto-type game for the short lived 64 bit Atari Jaguar.

(I bought one during my Senior year of High School for 30 bucks brand new with two games. Fours years after the Jag was realeased. By the way incase your keeping score. Playstation 2 came out in the fall of 2000. It is still for sale for about $130 for a new system today. Even with Playstation 3 out for over two years now. And PS2 still has new games coming out. But that is not the point of this post.)

Below is some screen shots of the PS1 game. I know I hope to someday land a copy. I love the AFL and will always love the AFL even though I doubt the league will ever return!

I do hope Kurt wins this Superbowl. For all of us 50 yard, indoor war fans!

  • How about that dinosaur!

Just when you think he is extinct.

I can't say I'm surprised. The Eagles talked like they were in the Super Bowl two seconds after they beat the Giants. Could see this coming a mile away...

  • Agreed about those "iggles".

And the Eagles are so freaking cheap they will keep Reid and McNabb for next yer. I get Reid for all that he does he is rather cheap.

But they will stick with Soup boy, to avoid paying more to improve the position.

Eagles won't be holding the Vince Lombardi trophy any time soon!

    As for Kurt.

Old man has one more Suberbowl win in him I feel.

I just hope he only thanks god once afterwards, not spam Jesus name like Teebo.

It's hard for me to take someone serious in these times who thinks the lord is focused on football games, with people going homeless, losing their jobs, wars, and Jesus is worried about a sporting events outcome?

Kurt is classy and a good guy. I suspect he will just say it once and leave it.
